Frequently Asked Questions

What size jobs do you accept?

Shred Depot accepts all size jobs, from small offices to large organizations. Depending on your needs, we also offer drop-off shredding. Small business or residents can bring small quantities of documents that need to be destroyed directly to our facility for shredding.

How is the paper shredded?

Shred Depot uses crosscut shredding technology that reduces the paper to confetti-like pieces instead of using conventional strip-cut shredding. Further, companies can be assured that it’s nearly impossible the paper we shred can ever be reconstructed again because the confetti-like pieces are immediately combined with previously shredded documents from that day’s route. Typically at end of each route 9,000 pounds of shredded paper is off loaded to be recycled.

Do I need to sort the paper?

No, all businesses will need to do is put the documents into one of Shred Depot’s locked consoles or containers. Our shred on-site truck can handle shredding paper clips, staples or binder clips.

How is the stored information kept safe before it is shredded?

A beveled slot and an internal or external locking mechanism ensures documents that are placed with our consoles and containers can’t be tampered with prior to one of drivers arriving to your location for document destruction service.

Does Shred Depot service residential or home offices?

It’s just as important for residents and home offices to securely destroy their information just as much it is for large organizations. Shred Depot offers one-time bulk destructions, scheduled, or drop-off services. The ideal solution will depend on the amount of material that you are in need shredding.  Call our office and speak with one of our customers service representatives and they will gladly assist in figuring out what service will work best with your needs.

What happens to the paper after it has been shredded?

After the paper has been securely shredded, the confetti-sized pieces are bundled into 2,000 lb. squares and sent to pulping mills to be turned into paper products. When you use Shred Depot for your destruction needs, you impact our environment as shredding 200 pounds of paper will save one average sized tree. Shred Depot shreds approximately 1.2 million pounds of paper annually, which saves 6,000 average sized trees each year.
